She has more than 10 years of experience in the genetic diagnostics field and is currently a Medical Affairs Director at Invitae. Prior to joining Invitae, Dr. McKnight was the director of the neurogenetics testing program at GeneDx, where she specialized in genetic testing for pediatric patients with epilepsy and intellectual disability. Dr. Mcknight is also the co-chair of the NIH ClinGen Rett and Angelman-like Disorders Variant Curation Expert Panel. She has reviewed and reported genetic testing results for tens of thousands of individuals with various neurological conditions. Additionally, she has extensive experience developing clinical diagnostic tests using advanced technologies such as arrays, next-generation sequencing panels, exome and genome sequencing. Dr. McKnight continues to be involved with cutting edge technologies and bioinformatics as the field of genomics and diagnostics continues to evolve. Dr. McKnight earned her doctorate degree at Penn State University and completed post-doctoral training at the NIH. While at the NIH, she was a research fellow at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research for 5 years, during which she also completed her board-accredited clinical molecular genetics training fellowship at the National Human Genome Research Institute.
