General Questions

Biotech Atelier is the European biotech conference connecting Biotechnology, Healthcare, IT, Life Sciences, and Pharma. Biotech Atelier builds around a main annual conference and separate satellite events throughout the year.

Our conference brings together scientists, business leaders, international experts, and influential think tanks to connect, exchange and generate new ideas for innovation, entrepreneurship, and business development.

Being the main networking platform for the region, the goal of the international forum is to connect the dots, promote innovation and spark cross-industry and cross-regional collaboration opportunities.

Is it for you? Only if you have burning interest in innovation, technology and new trends in Biotechnology, Healthcare, IT, Life Sciences, and Pharma Industry.

Our virtual conference is open for everyone. Each Atelier will focus on cutting edge topics and will be enjoyable and informative for a wide range of audience from students to experts.

A “Virtual Event” encompasses most or all of the aspects of a face-to-face event, while being run entirely online (virtually), hence available for attendance from any device of choice.

The virtual mode effectively allows comprehensive attendance from every point in the world, by means of a simple click.

In the context of COVID-19 pandemic, we are devoted to find the best solution for everyone’s safety – valuable attendees and speakers, while supporting the needs and interests of our partners. To achieve this goals, the third edition of the international forum is planned in a virtual mode – effectively allowing comprehensive attendance from every point in the world by overcoming the social distancing.

From the comfort of your own digital device, you will have access to impressive content and distinguished experts.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and for everyone’s safety, the conference is going entirely virtual (online, via Cisco WebEx), connecting in real time our speakers from across the globe. To attend and take part in the forum, all you need is your digital device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) and a stable internet connection.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and exclusively for 2020 we are offering the event free of charge. This is our modest contribution to international knowledge sharing in times, when finding new solutions and cross-industry collaboration are more important than ever before.

All you need is a free registration for the conference. Registration is now open. Register now and become part of Biotech Atelier 2020 –

Via single point registration you may join any of the sessions on both 24th and 25th September, but you should specify which panel or workshop you are interested in and plan to attend.

The so called “Big Ateliers” outline the main focus of the conference. “Big Atelier” refers to 1 hour sessions, revolving around a specific topic and featuring 4-5 experts with deep experience, yet vastly different perspectives on given problems and  solutions in the field of discussion. Each panelist has around 10 minutes to present his/ her personal point of view and to defend his/her thesis. The presentation part is followed by a roundtable discussion between the panelists and the session ends with a Q&A section, which the auditorium can participate in.

Big Ateliers focusing on different key topics will be held in the morning part of the forum and follow one after another.

“Small Atelier” refers to 1 hour sessions, revolving around a specific topic and featuring 4-5 experts with deep experience, yet vastly different perspectives on given problems and  solutions in the field of discussion. Each panelist has around 10 minutes to present his/ her personal point of view and to defend his/ her thesis. The presentation part is followed by a roundtable discussion between the panelists and the session ends with a Q&A section, which the auditorium can participate in.

Several Small Ateliers focusing on different key topics will be held simultaneously in the afternoon part of the forum, and every attendee has the choice to join the Small Atelier of interest.

“Satellite Events” revolve around connecting science with business and provide an opportunity for a more detailed presentation of a particular topic and a more in-depth discussion on various challenges and opportunities.

Satellite Events are a bespoke and flexible format – from a single 1-hour session to a 1-day event series – with the aim to create an engaging and interactive environment for cross-industry knowledge, experience and networking.

There are 2 types of Satellite Events:

  1. Adjacent to the main event
Satellite Events organized together with an external partner that are held the day before or the day after the main event.
  2. Throughout the year events
Satellite Events organized by us or together with an external partner throughout the year to keep our community and the target industries engaged, connected and ultimately successful.

Our partners design the Satellite Event with their own topics, speakers and choice of delivery – fireside chats, round table discussions and in-depth workshops.

Our role is to ensure that the Satellite Events align well with the interests of our audience. Furthermore, we take care of organization, digital infrastructure, marketing and any other support needed to make a successful event. The Biotech Atelier team is always happy to support each of our partners in planning, organizing and executing a “tailor-made event”.

The Poster Session is a tribute to the students and young scientists – where science begins.

Mission

  • To provoke and motivate the youngest scientists to be more outspoken and learn the power of collaboration and international exposure early on
  • To prove to the experienced scientists and business representatives the great potential a single “crazy” idea might have
  • To stimulate early stage scientific innovation, geared towards commercialization

Poster Sessions are focused on specific topics from Biotech, Healthcare and Life Sciences and challenge the smartest and brightest students from the region to share their boldest ideas. For a more competitive environment and stronger motivation, our partners have put together a prize pool for the top contestants,. Following our mission to promote knowledge and innovation, we generally ensure all participants benefit from the contest, as we are generous on publicity opportunities and willingly ensure exposure of  every idea that has been approved by a qualified jury.

Biotech Atelier 2020 is a virtual conference and most sessions will be live-streamed. All live-streamed sessions will be made available for ad-hoc viewing  for at least 2 weeks after the conference dates.

In addition, most of the presentations from the conference will be accessible on the Biotech Atelier website for those, who have registered to join the event.

Most of the presentations from the conference will be available for delegates on the Biotech Atelier website. Every attendee, who registers and joins the forum will receive a password to access the presentations and other conference materials.

We consider everyone who tunes in to the conference, a virtual event participant. Biotech Atelier 2020 will be held online via Cisco WebEx platform and will be streamed live.

All participants will have the opportunity to ask questions or send comments in written form during the separate sessions (Big or Small Ateliers, Keynotes, Interview). The moderator of the session will be able to see all questions and comments in the chat and will forward information and address specific questions with the panelists in order to receive comments.

In addition, all delegates may also send their questions/comments in advance via e-mail or via our contact form. Please, specify the topic of the Atelier, to which your questions/comments refer.

After the end of Biotech Atelier 2020, all participants in the forum will receive an email with their personal Certificate of Attendance.

Technical Questions

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and for everyone’s safety, Biotech Atelier is going entirely virtual. We rely on the industry leader – Cisco Webex

Cisco WebEx is a cloud-based platform for online communication and events. It ensures a form of telecommunications, in which participants join online meetings and events using their digital devices.

It shares similar traits with many other solutions you may already be familiar with – GoToMeeting, Zoom, Skype, Messenger and other.

We are running separate Webex channels for each track/flow of our conference. For the most immersive experience and the best participation opportunities, we recommend joining our sessions via web-based Cisco Webex or Webex as a standalone software – both available as a desktop and as a mobile app. An alternative is to tune in via our YouTube live stream. The latter may limit your possibilities for raising questions during the Q&A session.

It is entirely up to you whether you install the dedicated software (desktop or mobile app) or if you prefer to join via the live stream instead.

In either of the scenarios described above, you do not need a Cisco Webex Account. In case you go for the dedicated software, you will be asked to fill in your name and email address.

No, you don’t need such computer auxiliaries.

Yes, you will have an option to post your question or comment during an actual session (real time). All you need to do, is  join via dedicated Cisco Webex software and you will be able to propose your questions and share your thoughts via the chat within the platform.

To attend and take part in the forum, all you need is your digital device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) and a stable internet connection.
