Roberta Maffettone is an Environmental Engineers and is currently working as Scientific Project Officer at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Italy. In her role, she supports scientific and technical activities for the implementation of the recent EU Water Reuse Regulation (2020/741) in all the European Member States. After obtaining a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Salerno (Italy), she moved to Canada where she worked for academic institution and private companies (McGill University, the University of Western Ontario, Trojan Technologies and Bishop Water Technologies). During this period for about 5 years, she had been working on developing innovative solutions for wastewater treatment, including physical and chemical disinfection, biofilm technologies for nutrient removal, sludge-dewatering systems, and the development of advanced process control. Roberta is a passionate professional aiming to contribute to innovation in the water sector and to unlock the potential of water reuse in Europe and beyond.
