Prof. Dr. Ivanka Dimova graduated in medicine at the Medical University of Sofia in 1997. In 2004 she acquired a degree in Medical Genetics. Since 2001 she has been working in the Department of Medical Genetics at the Medical University of Sofia, where she successively holds the positions of assistant, Ch. assistant, associate professor, and professor. Since 2015 she has been the Head of the Laboratory of Genomic Diagnostics at the Center for Molecular Medicine, Medical University of Sofia. Prof. Dimova has specialized in a number of international universities: at University of Montpellier, France on the topic “Identity and plasticity of tumors”; the University of Cambridge, UK on “Application of DNA microchips in medicine”; For 2 and a half years she worked as an assistant at the Institute of Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology at the University of Friborg, Switzerland; 1 year as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology of the University of Bern, Switzerland and many more. etc. She is the manager of two international projects at the Swiss National Science Fund and many Bulgarian projects. Chairman and member of a number of commissions at the Ministry of Health and the National Science Foundation of the Ministry of Education and Science; Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Reproductive Health Association.
Her main research interests are in the field of oncogenetic, angiogenesis, genomic medicine, reproductive genetics, and epigenetics. There are over 100 publications in international journals with a total impact factor of over 90 and more than 800 citations.
