Kamen Shoylev is a Bulgarian and UK-practising lawyer, who gained his legal education at the University of Cambridge. He is the Managing Partner of New Balkans Law Office (NBLO) – a Bulgarian law firm which regularly advises technology companies across different stages of growth. He has mentored startups at well-known accelerators such as Seedcamp (London & Berlin) and BGV (London), among others. Mr Shoylev has extensive experience of the legal, ethical, practical and business issues surrounding biomedical and healthcare research and innovation. He has served as member of a UK hospital research ethics committee for nine years and was previously a legal and policy associate to the Chief Science Officer of a big pharma company. NBLO has advised over 50 startups as well as regularly serving mature technology companies. The firm is an active member of the Bulgarian Venture Capital Association, where it contributes on policy issues, legislation and promoting the Bulgarian startup ecosystem including by standard-setting and is actively interested in the emergence of medtech, digital health and biotech spaces in Bulgaria.
