Dr. Krassimira Chemishanska is a business leader in the pharmaceutical industry with more than 20 years of experience in the Bulgarian market. After graduating the Medical University of Sofia, she worked for two years as a researcher in the area of clinical immunology. Having embraced the challenges of her professional career, she earned two Master degrees — one in Marketing from the MBA General Management program of City University Seattle and one in Management from the International High School of Business.
Between 1994 and 2009 Dr. Chemishanska undertook various leadership roles at innovative multinational companies in the pharmaceutical sector, including many years as a Marketing Director and a member of the management team of Astra Zeneca.
In 2009, she became CEO of AmGen Bulgaria and successfully established the Bulgarian division of AmGen — a global leader in the biotech industry. Since then, she has been strengthening the structure and developing the local business of her organization.
In 2011 Dr. Chemishanska became a Board Member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham), and between 2015—2019 served as President of the Chamber.
Dr. Chemishanska has been a Board Member of the Association of the Research-based Pharmaceutical Manufacturers in Bulgaria (ARPharM) since 2013. Within that period, more precisely from 2019 until early 2021, she led the Association in the capacity of Chairperson of the Managing Board of ARPharM. Presently she serves as Vice Chair of the Association. In addition, Dr. Chemishanska is a long-term BBFL member and lecturer at the Forum’s master classes for pharmaceutical professionals.
Awards and recognitions: Dr. Chemishanska is an Honorary Member of the European Business, Scientific and Cultural Community Council and an awardee of the Council’s Golden Seal for Innovative Management and Social Responsibility. In 2013 she received the prestigious Certificate of Appreciation from the US Department of Commerce in recognition for contribution to fostering the bilateral relations between the US and Bulgaria in the area of trade, investments and healthcare.
