Nikolaus Gasche is Founder and Managing Director of Biome Diagnostics GmbH (BiomeDx), an Austrian MedTech company, focused on transforming precision medicine through microbiome-based technologies.
Nikolaus is a medical doctor by background and gained experience at university hospitals throughout Austria, Germany, and Africa, which inspired him to numerous business projects. As a self-taught programmer he is always driven by solving problems with technical solutions. His first software company developed ERP systems for small / medium-sized enterprises with a focus on IT security and was sold successfully in 2016.
After finishing his studies at the Medical University of Graz he quickly switched to the entrepreneurial world to follow his ambition and translate his ideas into reality. By combining his medical and technical knowledge, he is dedicated to bridge the gap of basic microbiome research and clinically practiced medicine by applying latest technologies, such as machine learning, next generation sequencing and advanced bioinformatics.
BiomeDx, previously known as myBioma, was founded together with Barbara Sladek in 2018. The company aims to advance precision cancer therapy by adding world-class microbiome solutions to clinical routine. It is worldwide the first microbiome-company that is certified according to ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015.
