Assoc. Prof. Ivan Ivanov has a broad background in molecular biology, microbiology and genetics. His area of expertise is in the field of molecular diagnostics and typing of highly dangerous and emerging pathogens, holding a PhD thesis on this topic. Currently he is leading the National Reference Laboratory on Antimicrobial Resistance studying antimicrobial resistance mutations and various molecular mechanisms. He authored more than 52 peer-reviewed scientific publications, underwent a number of trainings and specializations and has participated in six international research projects, three of which directly related to emerging pathogens.
