Zoran Nikoloski

Prof. Dr. Zoran Nikoloski

Professor of Bioinformatics

Potsdam-Golm at Potsdam University, Potsdam, Germany

Zoran Nikoloski is Professor of Bioinformatics at the University of Potsdam and Collaborative Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology, Potsdam-Golm, Germany. Since the establishment of CPSBB Plovdiv, he also became the Head of Department Bioinformatics and Mathematical Modelling at CPSBB.

Nikoloski’s early work focused on developing computational approaches for integration of heterogeneous data from high-throughput molecular profiling technologies. Nikoloski has developed extensive expertise in computational systems biology with the aim of reconstructing networks from molecular profiles and understanding how network structure determined abundance of network components. The main areas of Nikoloski’s research include: (1) data-driven qualitative and quantitative modelling of genome-scale metabolic and gene-regulatory networks, (2) analysis of evolutionary and optimisation processes in diverse biological networks, and (3) characterization of system’s functions emerging from molecular interactions. His current interest focus on integration of genotyping data in mechanistic model of cellular networks as well as understanding of the effects of metabolite-protein interactions.

Nikoloski currently serves as a Monitoring Editor in Plant Physiology, Section Editor in Journal of Plant Physiology, and Speciality Chief Editor in Frontiers of Plant Systems and Synthetic Biology.
